A rattle from a vehicle drawer does not automatically mean the runners need replacing. Loose contents, a drawer-front fitting, a separate latch or movement in the installation can create similar sounds. Start by recording where movement occurs while the vehicle is parked and the drawer is safe to inspect.
This checklist helps you prepare useful information for DuraSlide or your installer. It does not set acceptable slide play, prescribe fastener torque or certify a drawer as safe for travel. Stop using an installation if you find damaged hardware, insecure equipment or a drawer that will not remain secured.
Make the inspection safe first
Park on level ground and follow the vehicle and drawer-system instructions. Keep hands clear of pinch points. Remove loose contents only when safe, and support or unload the drawer as required by its instructions. Do not disconnect a loaded drawer or defeat stops, locks or retention hardware.
Do not drive with an unsecured drawer to reproduce the sound. The aim is to describe the symptom and inspect accessible parts safely, not to create another hazard.
Separate contents noise from hardware movement
Note whether tools, containers or removable dividers can touch one another. If safely removing loose items changes the symptom during a gentle stationary check, record that result. It narrows the questions but does not prove the runners are fault-free.
Look for obvious contact marks around adjacent objects. Do not add packing where it could obstruct the runners, latch, release tabs or the drawer's closing travel.
Check the drawer front and separate retention fittings
Observe whether the handle, drawer front or accessible latch moves independently of the drawer box. Record any visibly missing fixing or damaged fitting for the installer. Do not tighten unfamiliar fixings to an invented torque or assume that a handle provides transport restraint.

Identify the installed runner before judging movement
Record the model, length, orientation and how the runner is attached to the drawer and supporting frame. A video taken safely while stationary may help show which components move relative to one another. No universal acceptable-play measurement is supplied in this article.
Ask for the selected model's installation and inspection guidance. Do not bend rails, drill additional fixing holes or add shims inside the sliding mechanism as a general cure for noise. If movement is accompanied by sticking, see the separate binding-under-load checklist.
Do not assume locking means rattle-free
The heavy duty locking and non-locking heavy duty listings describe different configurations. A locking feature is not a guarantee that an entire drawer assembly will be silent, nor proof of crash restraint.
The current heavy duty descriptions specify matching left/right pairs and warn against mixing locking and non-locking runners. Do not change one side's configuration as an improvised noise fix. Review the locking comparison when specifying a replacement system.
What to send your supplier or installer
- Exact model and photographs of the complete installation.
- When the noise was first noticed and any recent change in contents or hardware.
- Whether the symptom occurs closed, partly open or during gentle stationary movement.
- Where visible relative movement or contact occurs.
- Any change in closing, locking or normal operation.

Common questions
Will lubrication stop a rattle?
Do not treat lubrication as a universal fix. Use only model-approved care guidance after identifying the source; the sound may originate outside the slide.
Should I fit stronger runners?
First establish the cause. A higher headline load rating will not automatically correct loose contents, a damaged fitting or an unsuitable installation.
Can I keep driving if the drawer will not stay secured?
Stop using the installation and obtain an appropriate assessment before travel. Do not rely on an improvised wedge or defeated locking mechanism.
